When Sentinel invested, the Fridays system comprised more than 900 restaurants in 60 countries and generated more than $2.6 billion in systemwide sales. Fridays differentiates itself through its unique positioning as a casual dining bar. Fridays is credited with inventing the happy hour and introducing Long Island iced tea, potato skins, and Jack Daniels–branded menu items.
Having owned the business for five years and achieved our investment objectives, Sentinel sold Fridays to another private firm in 2019.
