Spinrite

Spinrite is a leading manufacturer and marketer of craft yarns in North America. Established in 1952, Spinrite is well known to knitters and other hobbyists for its Bernat, Patons, Lily Sugar’n Cream, and Phentex brands, which are sold through mass merchants, craft stores, and independent specialty stores. Spinrite has the most modern and diversified craft yarn manufacturing, dyeing, and finishing operation in North America and is recognized as a market leader in new product development.

Sentinel first invested in Spinrite in 2004, then helped it complete an IPO in 2005. Sentinel remained a minority investor and, when Spinrite’s stock price presented an attractive re-entry point, Sentinel bought back Spinrite in a 2007 going-private transaction. In 2015, having achieved our investment objectives, Sentinel sold Spinrite to another private equity firm.
